Oceanside 2 Comox Valley 3 (OT)
Cameron Collins scored at 1:21 of overtime to give the host Comox Valley Glacier Kings a 3-2 victory over the Oceanside Generals in Saturday night VIJHL action at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Comox Valley led 1-0 and 2-1 period leads, as Westin Churchill and Tegan Clayton joined first star Collins as the Glacier Kings goal scorers, and second star Silas Dromasky blocked 21 shots to earn the win in goal. The Yetis moved into a third place tie with Port Alberni, both with 19 points.
Kaiden Day and Jacob Date scored for the Generals, who received 21 saves from third star Andrea Bylerius. The point for the regulation tie put Oceanside in first place in the North Division with the Nanaimo Buccaneers, both with 23 points, although the Bucs have three games in hand.
Lake Cowichan 2 Westshore 7
First star Jasper Fellbaum and second star Kansys Seney both scored two goals to lead the Westshore Wolves to a 7-2 win over the Lake Cowichan Kraken in front of 138 fans at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.
The Wolves, who led 2-1 and 5-2 by periods, also had tallies from MacGuire Willliamson, Sam Spring and Alejandro Snead, and 31 stops from third star Ander Reyes between the pipes. Westshore (18-2-0) kept its lead atop the South Division by two points over Peninsula, which has played two less games.
Cole Fedorovich and Jaxon Woodward had the Kraken markers, with netminder Evgeni Tkachenko stopping 31 pucks.
Campbell River 2 Port Alberni 3
First star Logan Meyer scored the winner and second star Joseph Naccarato stopped 43 shots to lead the Port Alberni Bombers over the Campbell River as 462 took in the game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Troy Zajac had the other goal for the Bombers, who after a 1-1 first period tie, took a 2-1 lead into the third frame.
Elliott Turgeon and Noah Spencer had the goals for the Storm, and goaltender Luc Gravel stopped 35 saves and was named third star.
Saanich 4 Peninsula 10
Defenseman Clayton Collier fired a hat trick and was named first star in the Peninsula Panthers 10-4 decision over the Saanich Predators in front of a crowd of 232 at the Panorama Recreation Centre.
Second star Alex Sajan and Oskar Aitken-Salmons each had two goals and third star Luke Christensen, Ryan Christenson and captain Ethan Lingard with an outstanding power-forward shorthanded effort had the other goals for the Panthers, who led 5-3 and 8-4 by periods and had goalie Colton Pyle stop 11 shots for the win in net.
Deegan Panas, Von Parsons, Elijah Kim and Tavery Lavender had the Saanich goals, and George Lantz and Jacob Walsh, who both made larcenous glove saves in the contest, combined for 47 saves in the Panthers net.
