Nov. 6: Bucs Cool Glacier Kings To Expand North Division Lead

Victoria Cougars jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead and had two goals from first star Ben Wetterberg as they submerged the Kerry Park Islanders 6-3 in Thursday night VIJHL action at Archie Browning Arena.

Third star Tyler Delli-Carri, Haydn Brooks, Pierson Main and Carter Zeeben had the other goals for the Cougars, who led 4-1 and 5-3 by periods. Goalie Alexei Booth blocked 22 shots on the night.

Second star Nick Scott, Sean Chernyak and Benjamin Stocks had the Islanders markers, and Carter Puska finished with 46 saves in the Kerry Park cage.

Comox Valley 3 Nanaimo 4

A trio of goals in the sandwich frame enabled the Nanaimo Buccaneers to edge the Comox Valley Glacier Kings in front of 255 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.

With the victory, Nanaimo (11-5-1 for 23 points) opened up a three point lead over second place Oceanside Generals atop the North Division.

Porter Williamson was named first star with a goal and two assists to pace the Bucs, with Jaxin Karst adding three assists to earn second star honours. Dreyton Hayward, Jack Barrett and Davis Young has the other Nanaimo markers as the hosts led 4-1 after two, with the first period ending in a 1-1 tie. Aaron Pichette stopped 20 shots to pick up the win in goal.

Third star Gavin Munro, Cameron Collins and Isaac Dunsire scored for the Yetis, and netminder Anthony Ganoung made 28 saves in the contest.
