Campbell River 1 Comox Valley 3
Third period goals by Cameron Collins and Westin Churchill lifted the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 3-1 victory over the Campbell River Storm in Saturday night VIJHL play at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Ethan Gobel scored in the first for Comox Valley (12-11-2-1) and Ryder Tanner tallied in the second for Campbell River (11-14-1).
Silas Dromarsky finished with 20 saves in the Glacier Kings net while counterpart Mason Hillier blocked 41 at the other end of the ice.
Saanich 1 Oceanside 4
First star Ryder Bradford was in on every Oceanside Generals goal as the North Division leading hosts bested the Saanich Predators 4-1 in front of 519 fans at Oceanside Place in Parksville.
Bradford had two goals and two helpers, with the other markers for Oceanside (16-8-1 for 33 points) coming from second star Maddy Reyes and Hunter Toth. Saanich (6-19) led 1-0 on Elijah Kim’s first period goal before the Generals jumped into a 3-1 lead after two frames.
Predators netminder Jacob Walsh was named third star with a 28 save effort, and Levi Hollatz picked up the win in goal with 18 saves.
Victoria 9 Port Alberni 0
Victoria Cougars scored three goals in each period enroute to a 9-0 whitewash of the Port Alberni Bombers as 377 fans took in the game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
League leading scorer Joseph Melichar (24 g, 29a, 53 pts) had two goals and two helpers and was named first star to lead Victoria (17-6-2), who had two goals from Carter Zeeben and singles from second star Ben Wetterberg, Haydyn Brooks, Tyler Delli-Carri, Jordan Ramsay and Brandon Smith. Simon Semancik added three assists and was named third star, and goalie Lane Maarhuis finished with 16 saves for the shutout.
Joseph Naccarato and Xavier Hahn combined for 41 saves for Port Alberni (11-13-1).
Peninsula 3 Kerry Park 0
Third star Brendan Williams scored twice and second star, goaltender Colton Pyle recorded the shutout with 34 saves, as Peninsula Panthers blanked the Kerry Park Islanders for the second straight game, 3-0 as 125 watched at Kerry Park Arena in Mill Bay.
Ryan Christenson had the first goal and eventual game winner as South Division leading Peninsula (22-1-1 for 45 points) opened up a scoreless first period draw to lead 2-0 heading into the third.
First star Joshua Dubreuil had 54 saves between the posts for the Islanders (1-23)
