Oceanside 6 Saanich 1

First star Ryken Lay’s two goals led the way as the North Division leading Oceanside Generals drove past the Saanich Predators 6-1 in Friday night VIJHL action in front of 96 fans at George Pearkes Arena in Saanich.

Oceanside (15-8-1 for 31 points) led 1-0 and 5-1 by periods and had single markers from Kayden Runstedler, Braylon Becker, Levi Green and Jacob Bate, along with three assists from third star Kaiden Day. Third star Ethan Suhr stopped 35 shots in the Generals net.

Elijah Kim had the lone goal for Saanich (6-18-0), and Asher Uniat finished with 23 saves for the Predators.

Nanaimo 7 Lake Cowichan 4

Four unanswered third period goals powered the Nanaimo Buccaneers to a 7-4 victory over the Lake Cowichan Kraken at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.

Nate Barclay scored twice and third star Dylan Lazaroff, Zach Spafford, Rhys Wilcox, Nate Hughes and Madden Cruickshank into an empty net had the goals for Nanaimo (14-9-1 for 29 points) and second star goalie Adam Ranger stopped 35 pucks for the win.

First star Viktor Dudenkov fired a hat trick and Kieran Prichett one for Lake Cowichan (7-15-0-1), which trailed 2-0 after the first but led 4-3 heading into the final frame. Kraken tender Alfie Blakeley finished with 29 saves.

Comox Valley 3 Campbell River 5

Host Campbell River Storm rushed out to a 4-1 lead and hung on to overcome the Comox Valley Glacier Kings as 717 spectators took in the tilt at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

First star Jack Smith, second star Ryder Tanner, Dylan Toth, Tom Marguet and Thomas Curri dented the twine for Campbell River (10-13-1), which led 2-1 and 4-3 by periods and received 41 saves from netminder Mason Hillier.

Comox Valley (11-10-2-1 for 25 points) had two goals from third star Westin Churchill and one from Haden Parker, and goalie Anthony Ganoung blocked 34 saves between the Yeti pipes.

Kerry Park 0 Peninsula 2

First star Caden Lentz stopped all 22 shots he faced as the South Division leading Peninsula Panthers shut out the Kerry Park Islanders 2-0 as 229 watched at the Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney.

Jacob Eddy and Luke Christensen both scored in the first period for Peninsula (21-1-1 for 43 points) and Lucas Ananias was named third star the Panthers poured 52 shots at second star Carter Puska in the Kerry Park net and he was honoured with the second star of the contest.
