Nov. 2: Coaching Change Gets Kraken Over Storm, Ramsay Leads Cougars

Saanich 3 Victoria 5

First star Jordan Ramsay scored twice and added an assist to lead the Victoria Cougars to a 5-3 VIJHL victory over the Saanich Predators Sunday at Archie Browning Arena.

Brandon Smith, Brady Williams and Haydyn Brooks into an empty net had the other goals for the Cougars, and Grady Slugget added two assists and was named third star. Lane Maarhuis stopped 18 shots for the win in goal.

Saanich led 1-0 and 2-1 by periods on goals from second star Kaydin Halliday, and Elijah Kim scored in the third period for the Predators, who had 31 saves from goalie George Jantz.

Campbell River 3 Lake Cowichan 5

Lake Cowichan Kraken never trailed in their first game under new head coach Dan Lemmon and settled the Campbell River Storm 5-3 at the Lake Cowichan Sports Arena.

Second star Luke Bennett, third star Viktor Dudenkov, Kieran Prichett, Toby Johnson and Jaxon Woodward had the goals for the Kraken, which led 2-0 and 3-1 by periods and had 34 saves from netminder Alfie Blakeley who earned first star honours.

Colby Driebergen, Noah Spencer and Elliott Turgeon on a power play with one second left in the game tallied for the Storm, with Matteo Scotto Di Pompeo and Luc Gravel combining for 18 saves in the contest.
