Kerry Park 2 Saanich 5
Saanich Predators jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead and never looked back enroute to a 5-2 VIJHL victory over the Kerry Park Islanders Friday night as 110 took in the action at George Pearkes Arena.
First star Konrad Lorincz, second star Travis Swanson, Boston Cripps, Owen Wilson and Kaydin Halladay had the goals for the victors, who led 2-1 and 3-1 by periods and received 15 saves from winning netminder George Jantz.
Third star Wade Enger and Benjamin Stocks scored for Kerry Park, who had goalie Carter Puska make 22 stops.
Lake Cowichan 3 Campbell River 5
A three goal second period enabled the Campbell River Storm to tame the visiting Lake Cowichan Kraken 5-3 in front of 562 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Storm goals came from the sticks of third star Bryson Walsh, Armaan Punn, Jack Smith, Noah Spencer and Ethan Hill, with Ryder Tanner earning first star honours with a three assist night. Campbell River led 4-3 heading into the third period, as the first frame ended in a 1-1 tie.
Jaxon Woodward had two markers and Blaine Wilson one for the Kraken, with goalie Evgeni Tkachenko putting in a second star performance with 54 saves.
Port Alberni 2 Peninsula 9
First star Carson Harris had a hat trick and the Peninsula Panthers had three goals in each period to bring down the Port Alberni Bombers 9-2 as 201 spectators watched at Panorama Recreation Centre.
Captain Ethan Lingard scored twice and single Panthers goals came from second star Luke Christensen, Markus Nichols, Joe Marranzino and Oskar Aitken-Salmons as Peninsula held 3-0 and 6-2 period leads and were backstopped by 27 saves from Caden Lentz. With the win, Peninsula (18-1-1) jumped into a first place tie atop the South Division with the Westshore Wolves at 37 points, although Peninsula has played one less game.
Logan Meyer and Malik Oliva had the goals for Port Alberni, and Joseph Naccarato finished with 42 saves in the Bombers cage.
