Campbell River 3 Nanaimo 5
Koen Gauthier fired two goals and added an assist to earn first star honours while leading the Nanaimo Buccaneers to a 5-3 victory over the Campbell River Storm as 315 fans watched in Thursday night VIJHL action at Nanaimo Ice Centre.
After a 2-2 first period draw, Nanaimo (12-6-1) scored three times in the sandwich frame to lead 5-2 heading into the third and opened up a two point lead over second place Oceanside Generals in the North Division.
Second star Jaxin Karst, Dreyton Hayward and Zach Spafford had the other goals for Nanaimo, which received 20 saves from winning netminder Aaron Pichette.
Third star Noah Spencer, Tommaso Konig and Ryder Tanner tallied for the Storm, with goalies Luc Gravel and Mason Hillier combining for 28 saves.
