Lake Cowichan 3 Port Alberni 6
Joel Dorn scored two classic goals and was named first star and second star Joseph Naccarato was outstanding with 42 saves to lead the Port Alberni Bombers to a 6-3 win over the Lake Cowichan Kraken in front of a crowd of 335 at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Makhi Wandler, McCall Nault, Cole Campbell and Malik Oliva had the other goals for the Bombers, and third star Kash Nicklin added three assists as Port Alberni (10-10-1) led 2-1 and 5-2 by periods.
Hunter McLean, Nicolas Kalinocka and Diezel Wyton scored for Lake Cowichan and Alfie Blakeley and Evgeni Tkachenko combined for 33 saves in the Kraken cage.
Comox Valley 3 Saanich 2
Comox Valley Glacier Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and held on to down the Saanich Predators 3-2 at George Pearkes Arena.
First star Suhaan Nagra, second star Ethan Gobel and Kyle Mayenburg had the goals for Comox Valley (9-9-2), and Anthony Ganoung stopped 25 shots to earn the win in goal.
Travis Swanson and Von Parsons dented the twine and Boston Cripps had two assists in a third star performance for Saanich, which received 28 saves from goalie Jacob Walsh.
With the wins, Comox Valley and Port Alberni are both at .500 and tied for third place in the North Division with 21 points.
