March 8: Cougars Eliminate Wolves, Now Face Panthers In Second Round

A four goal second period enabled the Victoria Cougars to down the Westshore Wolves 5-2 in Sunday VIJHL playoff action at Archie Browning Arena and earn a 4-1 series win and a berth in the South Division final against the Peninsula Panthers.

Third star Tyler Delli-Carri with power play and empty net goals, Luke Reinhart, Simon Semancik and Ethan Davey scored for Victoria, who exploded to a 4-1 lead heading into the final frame after a scoreless first period. Jordan Ramsay added an assist and was named first star, and Finn Wilson was solid between the pipes with 36 saves for the win.

Second star Alejandro Snead scored both goals for the Wolves, who had 31 stops from netminder Owen Bonthuis.

The South Division final starts later this week, as does the North Division series between the Nanaimo Buccaneers and the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.
