March 22: Cougars Edge Panthers, Force Game Seven

Three third period goals in less than five minutes propelled the Victoria Cougars to a 4-3 win over the Peninsula Panthers Sunday to even their best-of-seven VIJHL South Division final series at 3-3 in front of 405 fans at Archie Browning Arena.

First star Grady Sluggett opened the scoring in the first period and started the comeback with his second at 12:50 of the third period as the game was tied 1-1 after the first and the Panthers led 2-1 after two. Second star Caden Lave and Jordan Ramsay had the other Victoria markers, with Lucas Ananias, Oskar Aitken-Salmons and Koehn Obuck with 1:34 left in the game had the Peninsula tallies.

Finn Wilson was outstanding again and was named third star with 29 saves, and Caden Lentz stopped 22 shots in the Peninsula net.

Peninsula led the series 3-1 before back-to-back victories by Victoria. Game seven is Tuesday night at Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney, and the winner will host the Nanaimo Buccaneers in the VIJHL Championship Series.
