Westshore 3 Victoria 1
First star Owen Bonthuis made 30 saves and second star Parker Atkinson fired two goals to lead the Westshore Wolves a 3-1 win over the Victoria Cougars in the opening game of their VIJHL South Division semi-final series Sunday at Archie Browning Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Westshore led 2-0 heading into the third frame, with Sam Spring scoring the other Wolves goal.
Third star Caden Lave had the Victoria goal, and netminder Finn Wilson stopped 29 shots in the Cougars cage.
Game two of the series goes Tuesday night at The Q Centre.
In Monday’s playoff series openers, Campbell River Storm is at the Nanaimo Buccaneers, Comox Valley Glacier Kings is at the Oceanside Generals, and the Saanich Predators is at the Peninsula Panthers.
