A 29 save shutout by second star Aaron Pichette and two goals from Jaxin Karst gave the visiting Nanaimo Buccaneers a 5-0 shutout win over the Campbell River Storm in Friday night VIJHL action in front of 824 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

Casey Rutland, Madden Cruickshank and Dylan Konschuh had the other goals for Nanaimo (28-10-1 for 57 points, first in the North Division), which led 2-0 and 3-0 by periods.

Campbell River (20-18-1 for 41 points, fourth in the North) goaltender Luc Gravel was plenty busy, stopping 54 shots, and Lucas Beaudoin was named first star and Wong Hyeong Choi third star.

Comox Valley 3 Peninsula 2 (OT)

Third star Cameron Collins scored at 4:30 of overtime and also had an assist to lead the Comox Valley Glacier Kings a 3-2 victory over the South Division leading Peninsula Panthers as 179 watched at Panorama Recreation Centre.

First star Lane Maarhuis remains undefeated as a Glacier King and finished with 36 saves to earn the win, and Comox Valley (20-15-4-1 for 45 points, third in North) had their other goals from Leon Mikhalchuk and Haden Parker, who tied the game at 13:44 of the third period.

Peninsula (31-5-2 for 64 points) had their markers from Luke Christensen and Carson Harris, and second star Matus Volovar finished with 32 saves. The game was tied 1-1 after the first and second periods.

Port Alberni 4 Lake Cowichan 8

First star Iaroslav Morosov had two goals and three assists to help the Lake Cowichan Kraken bring down the Port Alberni Bombers 8-4 at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.

Viktor Dudenkov had a goal and two assists and was named second star for Lake Cowichan (13-24-1-1 for 28 points, sixth in North), who had their other goals from Kieran Prichett, Colten Palmer, Jaxon Woodward, Landon Morris and Doyun LeeAlfie Blakeley picked up the win in the Kraken cage with 40 saves.

Port Alberni (15-23-2 for 32 points, fifth in North) had a goal and assist from third star Jeremy Gould and their other tallies from Ethan Unger, Quinn Bouchard and Ryan Christenson. Ryan Burroughs made 30 stops between the Bombers pipes.

Kerry Park 3 Westshore 9

Kansys Seney had a hat trick and a helper while leading the Westshore Wolves to a 9-3 decision over the Kerry Park Islanders at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.

Westhore (28-8-4 for 60 points), climbed back over the Victoria Cougars and into second place in the South, with third star Tyson Schamehorn adding two goals, second star Parker Atkinson a goal and three assists, and singles from Sam Spring, Noah Gebicki and Elijah Kim while holding 2-0 and 5-2 period leads. James Hall made 30 saves to earn the win.

Kerry Park (2-39, fifth in South) had their goals from Kyle Spruston, Hagan Purinton and Reece Miyoshi and netminder Adam Ranger stopped 40 pucks in the contest.
