Comox Valley 4 Oceanside 2
Comox Valley Glacier Kings overcame a 2-0 first period deficit with two goals of their own in the second and third periods to down the Oceanside Generals 4-2 in Saturday night VIJHL play in front of 1,025 fans at Oceanside Place in Parksville.
Comox Valley (19-15-4-1 for 43 points) took over possession of third spot in the North Division with the win, and had their goals from third star Sheldon Alexander, who also added two assists, Rolan Amin, Haden Parker and Quinten Harvie into an empty net. New arrival Lane Maarhuis picked up his second straight win in goal with 32 saves.
Oceanside (25-13-1) has the same amount of points as North leading Nanaimo with 51, but the Buccaneers have played three less games. Their markers came from second star Levi Greenand Logan Duncan, and first star Max Boyle assisted on both goals. Andreas Bylerius stopped 29 shots on the night.
Peninsula 5 Westshore 3
Division leading Peninsula Panthers avenged a loss the night before to the Westshore Wolves by scoring four consecutive goals in a 5-3 decision over the Wolves at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre in another battle between the South two top clubs.
Peninsula (31-5-1 for 63 points) had single goals from first star Lucas Ananias, Logan Barnes, Jacob Eddy, Markus Nichols and Koehn Obuck and led 4-2 heading into the final frame after the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. Matus Volovar earned the win with 24 stops between the Panthers pipes.
Westshore (26-8-4 for 56 points) had Kaden Ryan, Parker Atkinson and Sam Spring dent the twine, as goalies James Hall and Luca Vanzo combined to make 25 saves. Second star Kansys Seney and third star Daniil Diachkov each had two assists. Westshore bested Peninsula 5-4 Friday night in Sidney.
