Feb. 4: Wolves Down Bombers, Reclaim Second In South

Westshore Wolves broke open a tight game with seven goals in the last two periods to down the Port Alberni Bombers 11-4 in Wednesday night VIJHL play at The Q Centre.

With the win, Westshore (29-8-4 for 62 points) pulled a point ahead of Victoria in second place in the South Division, although the Cougars hold a game in hand. The Wolves led 4-3 and 8-4 by periods.

Scoring for the victors were first star Kaden Ryan and third star Trace Anderson with two each, and singles coming from second star Kansys Seney, Alejandro Snead, Elijah Kim, Daniil Diachkov, Parker Atkinson, Tyson Schamehorn and Owen Hentschel. Luca Vanzo and James Hall combined for 32 stops in the Westshore net.

Malik Oliva with a pair and Jeremy Gould and Mason Smith with one each had the goals for Port Alberni (15-24-2 for 32 points, fifth in the North), as netminders Joseph Naccarato and Ryan Burroughs turned in 46 saves together.
