Westshore 3 Saanich 6

Three goals in the first and third periods powered the Saanich Predators past the Westshore Wolves 6-3 in Friday night VIJHL play at George Pearkes Arena.

First star goalie George Jantz put on a clinic with 33 saves to lead the way for Saanich (9-35-3 for 21 points, fourth in South), which led 3-2 at the end of the first and second periods. Third star Konrad Lorincz, Travis Swanson, Cole Davits, Shandon Riopel, Brandon Smith and Konrad Knot had the Predators tallies.

Westshore (34-10-4 for 72 points, third in South) received two markers from second star Kaden Ryan and one from Xavier Barthe with netminder James Hall stopping 24 shots.

Peninsula 6 Campbell River 5

A four goal third period brought the Peninsula Panthers back from a 4-2 deficit to earn a 6-5 decision over the Campbell River Storm in front of 489 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

Peninsula (38-7-3 for 79 points, first in South) led 2-0 after the first period and had two goals from second star Oskar Aitken-Salmons and singles from Markus Nichols, Alex Sajan, Lucas Ananias and Carson Harris in the contest, and Caden Lentz stopped 31 shots for the win between the Panthers pipes.

Campbell River (25-20-2 for 52 points, fourth in North) had two goals from first star Dylan Toth and singles from third star Won Hyeong Choi, Thomas Curri and Noah Spencer. William Talbot stopped 35 pucks for the Storm, who are now locked into a first round North Division playoff series with the first place Nanaimo Buccaneers.

Comox Valley 4 Lake Cowichan 3

Comox Valley Glacier Kings came back with four third period goals to edge the Lake Cowichan Kraken 4-3 at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.

Comox Valley (25-16-5-1 for 56 points) climbed one point ahead of the Oceanside Generals in the race for second place in the North and home ice advantage in their first round series with the Oceanside Generals.

Lake Cowichan (14-31-1-2 for 31 points, sixth in North) led 1-0 and 2-0 by periods, but a pair of early third period penalties gave Comox Valley a two-man advantage and Rolan Amin scored on a power play, followed by a top-shelf snipe by Westin Churchill to tie the score. Tegan Clayton pulled the Yetis ahead, and Kyle Mayenburg banged in a rebound with 35 seconds left for the win. Ander Reyes took the win with 21 saves between the Comox Valley pipes.

Landon Morris with a seeing-eye wrister into the top corner, Addison Bradley and Toby Johnson had the Kraken goals. Evgeni Tkachenko managed 34 saves in the Kraken cage.
