Feb. 16: Glacier Kings Freeze Buccaneers

Ander Reyes stopped all 25 shots he faced in a first star performance as the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings shut out the Nanaimo Buccaneers 4-0 in Monday VIJHL play front of a crowd of 340 at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.

Second star Rolan Amin and third star Easton Sangris each had a goal and an assist, and Cameron Collins and Quinten Harvie also scored for Comox Valley (22-16-5-1 for 50 points), which led 2-0 and 4-0 by periods.

North Division regular season champion Nanaimo (30-12-2 for 62 points), had Aaron Pichette and Tanner Ferrill combine for 21 saves in the Bucs net.

Kerry Park 1 Peninsula 10

Five goals in each of the second and third periods following a scoreless first had the Peninsula Panthers submerge the Kerry Park Islanders 10-1 in front of 387 fans at the Panorama Recreation Centre.

Peninsula (37-5-2 for 76 points, first in South Division) had two goals each from third star Brendan Williams, who also added three assists for a five point night, and Alex Sajan, while singles came from Clayton Collier, Ben Rowan, Lukas Preweda, Oskar Aitken-Salmons, Luke Christensen and Ethan Lingard. Third star Dome Szongoth added three assists and Colton Pyle finished with 17 saves between the Panthers posts.

Adam Ranger made a whopping 70 saves in goal for the Islanders (2-43 for 4 points) and was named second star, and Wade Enger had the lone Kerry Park marker.

Oceanside 4 Port Alberni 7

A hat trick from first star Eduard Mishikov propelled the Port Alberni Bombers to a 7-4 victory over the Oceanside Generals with 538 people taking in the game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

Port Alberni (16-16-3 for 35 points, fifth in North) led 2-1 and 4-3 by periods, and had their other goals from second star Kash Nicklin, Ryan Christenson, Chase Pouchnik and Jaxon Hinchey. Simon Holubar earned thirds star honours with three assists, and Xavier Hahn picked up the win in goal with 37 saves.

Oceanside (26-18-1 for 53 points, second in North) scorers were Logan Duncan, Reid Ronning, Max Boyle and Braeyen Newans, with Levi Hollatz stopping 31 pucks in the Generals goal.
