A 33 save shutout from first star goalie William Talbot and two goals each from second star Dylan Toth and third star Ryder Tanner led the way in the Campbell River Storm’s 9-0 blanking of the Lake Cowichan Kraken in Sunday VIJHL play at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
Campbell River (21-18-1 for 43 points, fourth in the North Division) led 2-0 and 4-0 by periods before a five goal third period explosion, and had their other goals from Rylan Krawietz, Lucas Beaudoin, Noah Spencer, Elliott Turgeon and Maxim Simard
Lake Cowichan (12-25-1-1 for 26 points, sixth in the North) had netminders Alfie Blakeley and Ethan Lorentz share 22 stops.
Saanich 7 Port Alberni 2
Saanich Predators picked up their eighth win of the season by overcoming the Port Alberni Bombers 7-2 at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
After a 2-2 first period tie, Saanich (8-31-1 for 17 points, fourth in the South Division) scored twice in the second to take a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes and added an insurance marker in the third for the win. First star Travis Swanson, second star Konrad Lorinz, Kaydin Halladay, Brandon Smith, Keon Gauthier, Brandon Smith and Von Parsons were the Predators marksmen, and George Jantz was sharp in goal with 31 saves to earn the win.
Port Alberni (15-23-2 for 32 points, fifth in the North) had their goals from third star Grady Dragani and Ethan Unger, and Xavier Hahn and Joseph Naccarato combined for 24 saves in the Bombers net.
