Ethan Lingard – 150 Game Milestone

A huge milestone will be occurring tonight in Peninsula. Ethan Lingard, a 2005 from Victoria, British Columbia, will be playing his 150th game in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. Ethan started in the league in the 2021-2022 with the Peninsula Panthers, having 10 points in 27 games as a rookie. Before tonight’s game, he combines for 92 points in his 149 Regular Season games – all for Peninsula Panthers.

When we asked Ethan how his last four seasons in the VIJHL has been, he had this to say. “My time in the league and junior hockey has been nothing short of amazing. Being able to win the championship 3 years ago and making lifelong friendships with guys along the way. It’s been the best 4 years of my life and it’s gone by really fast so I’m trying to take it all in.” When he was asked about the changes he’s seen in the VIJHL over his time here, he responded “This being my 4th year, the league has really evolved. When I was 16 it was an extremely hard hitting physical focused league but now with all the talent coming in from across North America and Imported players, the game has gotten a lot quicker and definitely more skilled.

For young players coming into the VIJHL, Ethan had this advice. “Players looking to come into the VIJHL and junior hockey in general, it’s truly the best time of your life, being with your teammates every day, building friendships and lifelong friends. Just enjoy it and don’t take it for granted.

Ethan Lingard and his team will be taking on the Nanaimo Buccaneers at 7:30 PM PST tonight in his home barn and will be looking to shorten the gap between them and the first place Kerry Park Islanders. Watch the game live at flohockey.com or join the game in person at the Panorama Recreation Centre.
