Nanaimo 7 Comox 4
Nanaimo Buccaneers surrounded a four-goal barrage from the Comox Valley Glacier Kings with two goals in the first and second periods to emerge with a 7-4 VIJHL victory Saturday night at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Davis Young, Casey Rutland, Zach Spafford, Davis Young, Dreyton Hayward, Nate Barclay and Jack Barrett all scored in a balanced attack from Nanaimo (15-9-1 for 31 points) and Adam Ranger picked up the win in net with 24 saves.
Comox Valley (12-11-2-1 for 27 points) had their goals from Quinten Harvie, Landon Morris, Sheldon Alexander and Cohen Kallin and Luca Vanzo finished with 35 saves.
Port Alberni 3 Oceanside 4
First star Ryder Bradford scored twice and the Oceanside Generals hung on for a 4-3 decision over the Port Alberni Bombers in front of 449 spectators at Oceanside Place in Parksville.
Oceanside (16-9-1 for 33 points) led 1-0 and 3-1 by periods and also had goals from second star Max Boyle and Sloan Kroeker, with Andreas Bylerius stopping 31 shots in the Generals cage.
Port Alberni (11-14-1 for 23 points) goals came from third star Malik Oliva in the second and Logan Meyer and Joel Dorn past the mid-way point in the third period to draw the Bombers within a goal. Xavier Hahn stopped 38 shots on the night.
Westshore 5 Victoria 4
Four straight goals in the second and third enabled the Westshore Wolves to come away with a 5-4 decision over the host Victoria Cougars as 230 took in the contest at Archie Browning Arena in Esquimalt.
First star Parker Atkinson, second star Noah Gebicki, Sam Spring, Nick Scott and Daniil Diachkov had the markers and netminder James Hall had 22 saves for the Wolves (21-4-3 for 45 points), who trailed 2-1 after the first but led 4-3 after two periods.
Victoria (19-7-2 for 40 points) had their tallies come from third star Luke Reinhart, Logan Prill, Jordan Ramsay and Grady Slugget, and Lane Maarhuis was busy between the pipes, fending off 39 pucks.
Campbell River 6 Kerry Park 4
Elliott Turgeon fired a pair of goals to lead the Campbell River Storm to a 6-4 win over the Kerry Park Islanders at Kerry Park Arena.
Campbell River (12-15-1 for 25 points) led 1-0 and 3-2 by periods and had their other scores from Dylan Toth and Maxime Simard as well as Aryx Siefker at 17:48 of the third and Colby Driebergen into an empty net to ice the win. Mason Hillier stopped 19 pucks in the Storm net.
Kerry Park (2-24) markers came from Nate Grinevitch with two and Benjamin Stocks and Hagan Purinton with one apiece. Joshua Dubreuil finished with 46 saves.
