Peninsula 7 Saanich 2
First star Carson Harris, second star Paco Hodgson and third star Luke Christensen each had a goal and two assists to help the Peninsula Panthers leap the Saanich Predators 7-2 in Friday night VIJHL play in front of 111 fans at George Pearkes Arena.
South Division leading Peninsula (24-1-1 for 49 points) led 2-1 and 4-1 by periods, and also received tallies from Oskar Aitken-Salmons, Alex Sajan, Cole Sather and Jacob Eddy and 14 saves from goalie Caden Lentz.
Saanich (6-20 for 12 points) had their goals from Tavery Lavender and Kaydin Halladay, and a 52 save effort from netminder Jacob Walsh.
Victoria 9 Port Alberni 2
Victoria Cougars scored four times in the first period and never looked back on the way to a 9-2 grounding of the host Port Alberni Bombers as 371 spectators took in the game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Victoria (19-6-2 for 40 points) led 4-1 and 6-2 by frames, and had two goals each from Carter Zeeben and Haydn Brooks, a goal and two helpers each from first star Jacob Bernardo and second star Joseph Melichar, as well as single markers from Grady Slugget, Tyler Delli-Carri and Pierson Main. Lane Maarhuis stopped 26 pucks and earned the win in goal.
Port Alberni (11-14-1 for 23 points) had goals from third star Logan Meyer and Kash Nicklin, as tenders Ryan Burroughs and Joseph Naccarato combined to make 34 stops in the Bombers net.
Kerry Park 7 Lake Cowichan 5
A power play goal by Benjamin Stocks with 1:02 left in the third period and an empty netter as time expired by Nate Grinevitch lifted the Kerry Park Islanders to their second win of the seasonwith a 7-5 decision over the Lake Cowichan Kraken at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
First star Tobie Gilchrist and second star Parker Lawrence each had two goals and the other marker came off the stick of Lucas Pallen for Kerry Park (2-23), as Carter Puska put in a solid performance between the pipes with 37 saves.
Lake Cowichan (7-17) scored the first two goals of the contest and led 2-1 after the first, but Kerry Park stormed back with five straight goals and led 5-3 after two periods. The Kraken tied the game in the third before the late goals gave Kerry Park the victory.
Lake Cowichan’s goals came from second star Nicolas Kalinocka with two, and Hunter McLean, Viktor Dudenkov and Kieran Prichett with one each, while goalies Alfie Blakeley and Evgeni Tkachenko stopped 29 shots altogether.
Westshore 5 Campbell River 3
Westshore Wolves never trailed and had goals from five different players as they downed the Campbell River Storm 5-3 as 562 people watched at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
First star Sam Spring, Kaden Ryan, Parker Atkinson, Nick Scott and Trade Anderson were the goal scorers for Westshore (20-4-3 for 43 points) which, after a 1-1 first period tie, led 3-2 heading into the final frame. James Hall blocked 37 shots for the win in net.
Second star Colby Driebergen had two goals and third star Noah Spencer one for Campbell River (11-15-1 for 23 points) as goalie Mason Hillier stopped 36 pucks on the night.
