Luke Christensen’s goal at 3:21 of overtime gave the Peninsula Panthers a 3-2 victory over the Westshore Wolves in a battle of the two top teams in the South Division in Wednesday night VIJHL action as 178 watched at The Q Centre.
The first place Panthers (23-1-1 for 47 points) never trailed in the contest, scoring first in both periods, which ended in 1-1 and 2-2 ties before a scoreless third frame.
Second star Alex Sajan and Kalan Dickie had the other Peninsula goals, and netminder Matus Volovar stopped 31 shots to earn the win.
First star Sam Spring and Kansys Seney scored for Westshore (19-4-3 for 41 points), who received 37 saves from goalie James Hall, who was named third star of the contest.
