Port Alberni 1 Peninsula 5
Peninsula Panthers scored twice in each of the first two periods and coasted to a 5-1 victory over the Port Alberni Bombers in Sunday VIJHL play in front of 200 fans at the Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney.
Second star Kalan Dickie, Brendan Williams, Jacob Caron, Paco Hodgson and Oskar Aitken-Salmons were the goal scorers for South Division leading Peninsula (27-2-1 for 55 points), and first star Jacob Eddy added an assist. Caden Lentz stopped 28 shots between the Panthers pipes.
Ryan Burroughs was outstanding in the net for Port Alberni (11-18-2 for 24 points), making 73 saves and he was named third star. Quinn Bouchard had a power play goal to close out the game in the final frame.
Kerry Park 1 Comox Valley 5
Ethan Gobel and Zaya Morro both fired two goals to lead the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 5-1 decision over the Kerry Park Islanders second goal of the game at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
After a scoreless first period, Comox Valley (16-13-3-1 for 34 points) led 4-1 heading into the third, with their other goal coming from Kyle Mayenburg. Silas Dromarksy made 29 stops in the Glacier Kings cage.
Parker Lawrence had the lone marker for Kerry Park (2-30), and Carter Puska blocked 42 pucks in the Islanders net.
The VIJHL now heads into the Christmas break, with the next league games scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2026.
