Kerry Park 2 Nanaimo 6
Nanaimo Buccaneers erupted with four second period goals and six straight overall to trounce the Kerry Park Islanders 6-2 in Thursday night VIJHL play in front of 280 fans at Nanaimo Ice Centre.
Scoring for the Bucs (19-9-1 for 39 points, second in the North Division) were first star Jack Barrett, second star Nate Barclay, Nate Hughes, Dreyton Hayward, Dylan Lazaroff and Lukas Needham. Madden Cruickshank added two assists and was named third star, and Adam Ranger stopped 22 shots in the contest.
Hudson Closson opened the scoring in the first period for Kerry Park (2-28), but Nanaimo led 4-1 heading into the final frame. Parker Lawrence closed out the scoring with an unassisted tally in the last minute of the game, and Carter Puska ended up with 46 saves in the Islanders net.
