April 1: Cougars Blank Bucs, Lead Final 3-1

First star Ethan Davey fired two goals and added two assists to lead the Victoria Cougars to a 5-0 shutout of the Nanaimo Buccaneers in game four of the VIJHL Playoff Championship Series in front of 745 fans at Frank Crane Arena Wednesday night n Nanaimo.

Finn Wilson was again outstanding and was named second star for stopping all 24 shots he faced in the Cougars net, as Victoria led 1-0 and 2-0 by periods. Third star Simon Semancik had a goal and two assists, and the victors’ other goals came from Kelton Shinde and Jordan Ramsay on a power play.

Aaron Pichette blocked 32 pucks in the Bucs goal.

Victoria leads the series 3-1 and can clinch the championship in game five of the series Thursday night at Archie Browning Arena in Victoria.
