Extreme Storm VIJHL Consequences

With the Malahat being closed by the Ministry of Transportation, 4 VIJHL games are being cancelled in the best interests for the safety of team players and staff.

The BC Ministry has published the following information regarding the Malahat closures:

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, the stretch of highway will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. From Nov. 17-22, the stretch of highway will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During the daytime, the highway will be open to single-lane alternating traffic for 30-minute intervals. Drivers should expect major delays during daytime openings and consider limiting travel for essential purposes only.

Due to the hardships that these closures will bring to teams, the following games have been postponed to a future date:

November 19, 2021 Kerry Park Islanders AT Saanich Predators

November 19, 2021 Victoria Cougars AT Lake Cowichan Kraken

November 21, 2021 CR Storm AT Saanich Predators

November 21, 2021 Kerry Park Islanders AT Westshore Wolves

Many other scheduled games are still being played and the League encourages you to continue to support your team and this League.

Rescheduling dates will be posted in the League schedule as soon as they are known.
